Dry Ice Chambers
« on: June 26, 2009, 09:39:41 pm »
The first step was to measure the amount of space between my fuse box and the block.  I drew a plan for the outer box and from there I started to contrruct the box.  I used sheet metal, folded it with 2x4s and a mallet.  I took two lenghts of copper tubbing 20ft in length and wrapped it around a torch bottle.  I used ear plugs to mark the tips so i would not confuse the two.  I cut two small holes to run the tubbing.

Once the copper tubbing was inside I used a rivot gun to close it up.

I then placed the smaller chamber inside the larger chamber

Then filled the space between the two with fireblock insulating foam.

Once the foam dried it can be trimmed away.
Final rivoting of the outside

Installed

I brake up the dry ice and pour it around the copper tubing and add a little water.  I repeat this step tow or three times.  The water flash freezes once it hits the dry ice.  When you are finished, you have 20ft of fuel line and 20ft of alcohol injection line running through a block of solid ice.

LOL, thanks man.

I have alot of these as all of the mods on my truck I did myself minus the welding of the exhaust and my 4.10 gears.

I'm pretty much in the same boat.

The only thing I didn't do on this truck was the tranny. That was done down at SunCoast.

The only other folks that work on this truck are Dave and Randy at Oneal Dodge, when I screw something up.

The test chamber I made lasted about a week.  The unit in the truck last about five days.  It would last alot longer if there was a way to seal the chamber completly but I can't.  The nitrogen thawing creates gas that must escape.

My bad, lol.  But the gas comming out of solid state is the issue with complete sealment.
